Hi everyone, I am sure most of you have had the same experience, that
happened to me today. I received the dc of my g.uncle George Bence, from
Pittsfield, MA. It answered some questions, but brought with it more
questions than it answered. He died in 1933 and the dc gives as his
occupation-----Fireman, E. C. & P. Now what in the world is that? I
think (emphasis on "think") I heard somewhere that he worked for the
railroad. Could this be the answer? If so what railroad and does it
still exist? Where could I get information? There is some discrepancy
about his place of birth-----England or Mass. ----- and if I could
discover the employment record of his place of employment perhaps I
could resolve that issue. If it's not the railroad, then does anyone
have any ideas on what exactly E. C. & P. stands for? Any help would be
most appreciated. Margaret in NV
