Thought somebody may be interested in this obit.
DALY, Arthur McKim - 74, West Pugwash, passed away December 1, 2000, in
North Cumberland
Memorial Hospital, Pugwash, Nova Scotia. . Born in Providence, R.I., he
was a son of the late Thomas and Clara
(McKim) Daly. Orphaned at an early age, he came to Canada in 1931 with
his brother, John and
was given a caring home with his dear aunt and uncle, the late Dan and
Olive McKim. In his
youth he was a member of the Junior Farmers Club and won many awards,
including a trip to
Toronto. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the Tank Core. After
Korea, he spent 8 years
in the peacetime service. He worked as a woodsman and also a fisherman.
He worked in the
plumbing trade for many years across both Canada and the United States
and was a member of
Local No. 694 Pipefitter's Union, Moncton. He was a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion, Branch
No. 60, Pugwash and served as the bartender for several years. He also
operated a taxi service in Pugwash for many years.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Surviving are his wife
of 51 years, the former
Rose Ferdinand; son, Dan, Pugwash; daughter, Darlene, Moncton; brother,
John (June), Hamilton,
Ont.; grandchildren, Jocelyn and Stephanie, both of Amherst;
great-grandchildren, Dakota and
Mackala, both of Amherst. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Legion
Tribute Service 7 p.m.
Sunday, funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, all in Mundle's Funeral Home,
Pugwash, Rev. Edgar
Patriquin officiating. Burial in Wallace Bay Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be
made to the Wallace Bay Cemetery or a charity of choice.
