I found the S.S. applications to be a very important paper. It helped me find the maiden name of someones mother when I never would have found it otherwise.
I don't understand how someone can say that the application was filled in by an employer.
When I turned sixteen, I went to the S.S. office and filled in the application myself.
My employer did not go with me.

Researching family history is often very difficult, and these applications help make it a little easier.
The increased cost of these and the records from NARA will put a burden on those with limited finances.
I guess it won't matter for one who has unlimited money.
