Rev. Richard Mather & his wife Catherine Holt were married Sept 29, 1624 in
England.
He was born abt 1507 at Lowton, Winwick LANCASHIRE, England and died April
22, 1669, at Dorchester, MA

Their son Rev. Increase Mather b. June 21, 1639 at Dorchester, MA; died Aug
27, 1723 at Boston, MA; buried at Copp's Hill Burying Ground, Boston, MA;
married Marie Cotton, b. Feb 16, 1642; d. Aril 4, 1714; dau of Rev. John
Cotton & Sarah Hawkredd.

Ezra Farnsworth b. Jan 17, 1703 m. April 25, 1726, Elizabeth Lakin b. Aug 23,
1705, dau of Joseph Lakin & wife Abigail. Joseph Lakin was the town clerk of
Groton. Elizabeth Lakin died 1732 and he m. (2) Sept 29, 1733 at Concord,
Abigail Pierce b. Nov 10, 1710 dau of Ephraim and Mary (Whitney) Pierce. He
was a blacksmith by [like his great grandfather,John Prescott founder of
Lancaster, MA] and was a lieutenant in the militia. He built a house on his
father's farm at the place where his grandson Ezra lived afterwards. It was
on the southerly side of the road that runs from Farmer's Row across the
broad meadow to the first parish meeting house. He died June 10, 1788 and
his widow died Jan 8, 1800.
His children by his 1st wife Elizabeth Lakin:

2. Elizabeth Farnsworth b. Jan 10, 1729; m. Jan 28, 1755 Joseph Bruce of

Elizabeth (Hall) Whipple of Groton. She d. Oct 27, 1817; he d. 1796; resided

Grafton, MA.
3. Ruth Farnsworth b. Aug 21, 1732 m. May 23, 1771, Thomas White as his 2d
wife. His 1st wife was Hannah ___. He had 9 children by his first wife and
by Ruth Farnsworth he had

6. Ezra Farnsworth Jr. b. Sept 21, 1744 m. Betsey Sheple b. Oct 5, 1746 dau
of Capt Joseph and Eunice Sheple. he died Mar 19, 1798; his wife d. Nov 5,
1819; He lived where his father lived and where his own son Ezra lived until
his death in 1856; thus continuing that christian name as occupying the
place for three generations. He was a corporatemember of the Presbyterian
society at Groton.
7. Ephraim Farnsworth b. Aug 9, 1747; died Sept 2, 1754.
