Subject: [GM-L] Fw: Response to "How does one report hard porn & illegal messages?"
Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 21:35:30 -0500
From the many responses that I received today from people who were just
as fed-up as I about the horrible pornography that keeps appearing in our
e-mail, I feel that I must pass along what happened next.
I called the local police who were very apologetic as they explained
that there was absolutely nothing that they could do about it. They said
that this stuff appears in magazines and is actually for sale in shops and
stores all over the country. (God forbid that the Constitutional rights of
the porn dealers and their customers should be violated!)
Then, a very practical solution came in from Joan Earnshaw, whose
message is found below. I haven't yet had the time to try her solution, but
it certainly sounds feasible. She sounds like a very bright lady, and I
plan to give her suggestion a try.
Thank you to all who responded to my plight and shared your own, and I'm
hoping that Joan's suggestion will be helpful to us all. Good luck!
Regards,
Fran Weeks
