Hello Everyone:

There are a couple of sources on Thomas JONES (c1598-1667) of Hingham and Dorchester, MA you may be interested in.

The first is a lineage from Thomas through his son Abraham JONES (1638-1718). This line passes through his g,g,g, grandson Seth JONES (1748-1827) the Revolutionary Patriot from MA.

You will find this in the Lineage Book of The Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America...Volume XVII dated 1943 and appears on page 48-49.

Thomas JONES came from Oxfordshire, England, to Hingham, MA with his wife Ann and older children on the "Confdence" in 1638. He received a grant of land in Hingham in 1638. He was one of the Original Proprietors of Dorchester, MA, where he was elected one of the Selectmen in 1648.

Seth JONES (1748-1827) served as Private in Capt. Israel CHAPIN's Company. Col. Elisha PORTERs Regiment, MA Militia. His name appears on an undated muster roll of above organization, which shows he enlisted Feb. 1, 1776. He served as 2nd Lieutenant in Capt. Seth PIERCEs 3rd Company, 6th Hampshire Company, commanded by Lieut. Col. Samuel WILLIAMS. Commissioned July 10, 1780.
