Subject: [GM-L] ...Percissa KNIGHT... ... Ashabel RICE ... migrated MA to NS .. 1782 ..

Hi ... I'm still trying to draw a better picture of the RICE family
which settled in Digby, NS, right around 1782.
Ashabel RICE was born in 1755 in Marlborough, MA, and was the son of Jesse
and Beulah (__) RICE.
On 14 July 1779 he married Percissa KNIGHT in Marlborough, MA.
Some researchers say that "Persis" KNIGHT was born in Marlborough or an
adjoining town, but some say she was born in Nova Scotia. .... I haven't
yet seen any mention ... of whom her parents were.
Last night, while "searching," I discovered that there was another Percissa
Knight, perhaps the daughter of Samuel and Ann KNIGHT, who married Asa MOORE
in 1783. She seems to have been born around 1762. The Percissa
Knight who married Ashabel RICE seems to have been born in 1770.
I also noticed that there are two different surnames, KNIGHT and KNIGHTS ...
which might have been used interchangeably. I don't see these surnames
mentioned very often.
Ashabel and "Persis" RICE had their first child in MA, around 1780, and then
migrated to Nova Scotia a year or so later, as their second child was born
there in 1783. They went on to have at least 7 children. (Mary,
Rufus, Ruth, Lucy, Ebenezer, Jesse, Ashabel) (Mary, Rufus, and Ruth all
married into a HAMILTON family in Nova Scotia.)
I would VERY much like to find out if Ashabel and "Persis" had an 8th
child.... Daniel RICE, born in 1804.
Daniel Rice was my ancestor, and I am trying to determine whether he was the
son of Ashabel Rice, or Ashabel's grandson .. son of Rufus Rice.
And, I would like to determine who Percissa Knight's parents were.
Have a good Sunday, Betty
(near Lowell, MA)
