Hampden County Registry of Deeds is at 50 State Street, Springfield,
MA. The registry is on the fourth floor, one must go there and ask to be
escorted to the archives which is in the basement. There you will find
your 1850's deed.

Connecticut deeds are filed on the city/town level, so after you determine
exactly which town you need to check, you would goto the city/town hall -
clerks office.
