Hi List,

If you are researching HATHAWAY, ARNOLD, STREETER, or CASWELL you may be able
to help me. I'm trying to identify a photo I was given that was identified
only as "Grandmother Hathaway."

This photo, which can be found at
www.geocities.com/judygreyhorse/caswell/amelia.html is a picture of an
elderly woman who is said to be a full-blooded Native American. It was
included in a group of CASWELL family photos from some time around the turn
of the century. It's possible that they were all taken in different years,
however, they are all OLD. This CASWELL family was known to have lived in
Taunton and Attleboro and includes William Henry CASWELL and his wife Sarah
Macomber (also said to be Native American). Children included Herbert A.
Caswell who was my great-grandfather.

I have since found out that there WAS a HATHAWAY in my extended CASWELL
family and I'm trying to put a complete name on "Grandmother Hathaway" and
also, alert any descendants as to the existance of the picture. William
Henry Caswell's sister, Eunice Russell Caswell, b. about 1842, married
William E. Hathaway. It is his mother, FANNY ESTHER ARNOLD, wife of William
H. HATHAWAY, who might be identified as "Grandmother Hathaway." Fanny Esther
Arnold, daughter of Seth and Belinda Mason (Streeter) Arnold, was born 14 Oct
1820, married 1 Aug 1837 to William H. Hathaway and died 24 Dec 1896.

Son William E. Hathaway was born in Wareham, MA July 8, 1836 and died in
Somerset, MA Nov. 29, 1890. Eunice died in Somerset, MA Oct. 27, 1934 age 93.

If anyone can help me identify "Grandmother Hathaway," whether or not she is
Fanny Esther Arnold, please let me know.

Judy

P.S. A BIG THANK YOU to both Don Taylor, who offered his HATHAWAY expertise,
and to Beth Hurd for her William H. Hatheway posting on Genforum.
