Margie,
Don't be silly, it's not problem at all. Yes the Pollard
Memorial Library (http://www.pollardml.org/) has a lot of
genealogical data. As for vital records, I'm really not
sure. If you go to the librarie's website, they have a
section (Reference & Local History), click on that and you
can ask them a question. I do know of another place called
the Mogan Cultural Center (which is part of UMASS Lowell) and
they also have lot's of information. They do have some
death, marriage and birth's listings online...that website is
(http://libvax.uml.edu/clh/GenRes.Html).
In the past several months I have relied on the Massachusetts
Archives. I have ordered several death and marriage
certificates through them for a minimal cost of $3. Their
website is (http://www.state.ma.us/sec/arc/arcidx.htm).
Well I hope that has answered some questions. Please feel
free to ask more. If you do find out that they are buried
here, just send me an email. I do live near four of the
bigger cemeteries in the Lowell and could take a run by them
for you.
Maureen,
Since you're from Lowell, perhaps you can offer some
guidance. I hope you
don't mind my asking.
In 1895, my g-g-g-grandmother died in Lowell. Her name was
Catherine
GALLAGHER.
Her husband, Bernard GALLAGHER, died sometime before her,
although I don't
know when.
It sounds like the Pollard Memorial Library might have access
to some
genealogical records. Do you know if they have any Lowell
vital records
there? Do you know if I would be better off going to the
Lowell Town Hall
and starting with Catherine's death record? I guess what
I'm asking
is...where's a good place in Lowell to start my search?
Any advice you can offer would be appreciated. I live here in
Massachusetts.
