Hi All,

I don't think I've posted this here before, so it's about time I did.
:-) I've posted to the Haley surname list and message boards, but so
far, no results. Ah, but that's life, eh?

I've searched through Google, Rootsweb, Ancestry, Genealogy, the LDS
site, and NEGHS with no results, except what I have here. My hopes are
to find living descendants to connect with (cousins!) and learn as much
as I can about the Haley family - my maternal family.

Anyway, the first ancestor is, Edward Marshall Haley, born 8 Sep 1810 in
Dublin, Ireland. Married about 1830 to Clarissa B. Barrett in
Massachusetts. She was born 14 May 1814 in Plymouth.

First of all, I have not yet been able to find the names of Clarissa B.
Barrett's parents.

Edward and Clarissa had 11 children and several descendants. What I'd
like to do is just give a name list here and see if anyone connects! I
won't list all the Haleys, but the entire Haley line pretty much remained
in Plymouth County, Massachusetts - often found in Plympton or Brockton.

These are the men who married Haley women and perhaps someone will have a
connection:

1. Walter Holmes, b. abt 1855 in Massachusetts, son of John Holmes - of
Pembroke. Married Henrietta "Etta" Haley abt 1870. Their daughter,
Edith M. Holmes married a Harry W. Tanner (or Turner), who was born abt
1881 in New Hampshire. They lived in Rockland.

2. Edward Turner, Jr. married Ruth B. Haley. He was born about 1831 in
Massachusetts. They had a daughter, Lilian M. Turner, who married Eugene
W. Briggs, born 1851 in Massachusetts. It looks like Lillian and Eugene
Briggs had no children.

Edward and Ruth had a son, Edward Francis Turner, born 26 Nov 1860 in
Plympton. He married Jennie May Murdock. Their daughters were Lillian
Blanche Turner, b. 1886, and Hazel Murdock Turner, b. 1891.

I don't know who Lillian Blanche married, but Hazel's married name was
Cherry. This family was mostly found in Brockton in the census.

3. Clarissa Haley, daughter of Edward and Clarissa, had 2 husbands: the
first was Israel Bradford Finney (or Phinney), born 1836 in Plympton.
They had 3 daughters - Frances and Alice lived; Mary appears to have died
young.

Her 2nd husband was David Thompson, b. 1846 in Halifax. Their child was
Clara, b. 1880.

I'd be interested in the descendants of any of Clarissa's daughters.
Thus far, I have not been able to learn their married names.

That's it! That is a VERY brief "sketch" of the family and the other
names that entered into it.

Since I have not found anyone who connects to the HALEY family of
Plympton and Plymouth County in general, perhaps someone will connect to
Holmes, Turner, Briggs, Cherry, Finney or Thompson!

I have LOTS of info - all the census info I could possibly find - and I'm
still digging for more; some vital records - again, looking to obtain
more (when finances permit OR when I visit Massachusetts next, whichever
comes first).

SO if ANYONE connects with the HALEY family or these descendants, I'd
really like to hear from you. Thanks!!!
