Hello,

I noticed in the 1920 Census for MA that there about a dozen GARLAND
families living in Somerville, and another several living in Cambridge.
I was wondering if anyone is researching them, and whether any of them had a
son who might have died in the 1940's.

My aunt, Louise LEWIS, b1919 MA, as I understand it, was briefly married to
a Mr. __ GARLAND as a young woman. She had a baby with Mr. GARLAND but it
died in infancy. The family-story goes that my aunt's husband died not
long after they married, but I can't remember whether he died during WWII or
whether he died for health reasons.

Years later Mrs. Louise GARLAND remarried to a Eugene MUZZEY, who was
descended from the MUZZEY families in early Lexington. I believe he was
a widow and he had a son, Eugene MUZZEY, who would have become her step-son.

My aunt was served in WWII, but I don't know in which capacity. I do not
have it in my possession, but I have seen a picture of her in her "uniform"
alongside my father's photo in his uniform (Army Air Corps). My aunt
was a life-long member of AMVETS in Somerville, as I understand it.
Does anyone know whether the AMVETS organization gives out information on
their deceased members?

Betty (near Lowell, MA)
