Hi Janine,
I don't have a road map of MA and NY in front of me at the moment, but one
"guess" would be "the old Mohawk Trail." But, I would think there were
several early roads between upper NY State and MA.
During the mid- 1700's, many families left eastern MA - to head out to
western MA, VT, NY, CT, etc. So, they either "blazed trails" or found ..
"old foot-paths" to follow.
Have you considered asking this question on the Berkshire County List?
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
