Subject: Colonial Times Dogs
Date: Fri, 14 Oct 2005 03:55:32 EDT
Dogs were commonplace in the churches on the Sabbath, as the early churches
were unheated, and the dogs were taken along as footwarmers. One of my
ancestors was appointed "dog whipper" by the congregation which meant he was to
discipline any of the dogs which got out of hand during the services.
