Hello,
I wonder if any one is researching this family. I have the pre Thomas/Hannah
info (if indeed they are my line)
THOMAS VAUGHAN b. 1729 d. 1773 Middleboro, MA
m. Jan. 3, 1752, HANNAH PETERSON b. 1733 (John Peterson and Ruth Delano)
Children: (bornm Middleboro)
NATHAN VAUGHAN b.Nov. 1, 1753 m. Mary Fry
FAITH VAUGHAN b. Jan. 6, 1756 (?James Shaw)
BETTY VAUGHAN b. Feb.19, 1758 m Josiah Jones
THOMAS VAUGHAN b. Jan. 30, 1761 (Lois Shaw?)
I have a Lois Vaughan, whom I have no parents for (one of those burned
record thing-UGH!). She married Josiah Leonard Briggs in Shutesbury MA in
1791. She is listed as being from New Salem MA. When I start looking
through the 1790 and 1800 census, I find Hannah Vaughan, Nathan Vaughan and
Thomas Vaughan living in Shutesbury and New Salem. Hannah only in the 1790
with one female with her. In 1800 she is gone, perhaps living with one of
her kids? Being as I only have rough age caterories, I am not sure if this
is so. In 1803, a Hannah Vaughan died in Shutesbury. She was listed as a
widow. Once upon a time I thought a I found a Lois as name back in the
family tree of the Vaughans but cannot find it at present.
What I would like to do is find a deed or a probate of a will or something
for either Thomas (the elder) Vaughan or Hannah P. Vaughan. Is there any
index on-line for either that I could look at? Does the LDS have
photocopies of the indicies? Where would 1803 ish records be? I am in
Illinois, so my local (very small) LDS office holds very few perm records
and those are Illinois related so want to be sure to ordr the right thing!
Thanks so much
Betsy Rubel
