My Canns went up to NS after War for Independence..two reasons: loyalists
mostly AND good fishing! They were from John Cann of Boston, Beverly MA and
Hugh Cann Yarmouth NS.

Another line went in middle 1700s and I think might have been among the
first ones. They were fisherman from Plymouth Colony and opportunity in
uncharted territory intrigued them. They were Shaws from John, Jonathan, Benoni.

My grandmother descended from these lines and her parents with their
children came back to Salem MA .
