Subject: [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Census question, Maiden name
Date: Sun, 21 Jan 2007 08:41:26 EST
Hello.
I have an 1850 census for Boston Ma with my family on it. The
husbands name is Michael Tenneyan, and all the children are Tenneyan, but
right under Michael Tenneyan (Head) Is Mary Welch, who I think is his wife. On
all the children's marriage cert's it has the parents as Michael and Mary. My
question is, would a married woman use her maiden name in the census? They
were all born in Ireland, arrived in Boston around 1849. Any information on this
will be appreciated, Thank you.
Best wishes.
Bob
