Subject: [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Rev. War--Death Benefits? Pension?
Date: Sat, 12 Jan 2008 19:54:36 -0500 (EST)
I posted a message recently about Rev. War soldier Corp. Samuel
Ripley--this post is a bit different.
Corp. Samuel Ripley was in Capt. Curtis' Co., based in Brunswick (now
Maine). This was Col. James Cargill's First Lincoln County Regt. Cargill
is also my ancestor.
I think it's possible Samuel Ripley died during the war.
How would I determine whether there was a pension or any other benefit for
this soldier's service?
I did find a land grant in present-day Illinois for his grandson who was
killed in the War of 1812.
I would like to know what happened to Samuel Ripley--
thanks, Charles
