Subject: [GENMASSACHUSETTS] War of 1812--U.S. Army Dead
Date: Fri, 8 Feb 2008 13:38:30 -0500 (EST)
There was a family member who died during the War of 1812. I ordered his
records from the National Archives and they were lacking any worthwhile
information.
The soldier was Pvt. Samuel A. RIPLEY, U.S. Army (not militia) from
Jefferson, Lincoln Co., Maine. At that time this was Massachusetts
I feel that he may have been killed in a battle in this country and there
wasn't much time to elaborate on his death. His family was awarded land in
Illinois for his service.
I know, but don't remember the title of a book that listed Mass. militia
men during that period.
Would Massachusetts or any other entity that might have information on
him? Or, anyone that served in the regular Army during that period?
thanks, Charles
