Plymouth Colony 1643
Able to Bear Arms (ATBA) List

The United Colonies in their Constitution of 19 May 1643, among other
matters provided that each colony's commissioners from time to time would
provide a list of those males, 16 to 60 able to bear arms, etc. (militia
duty)

I don't see any of my ancestors in the lists, or for that matter their
surnames. I know that a person could be physically challenged and not be
on the list. Is there any other factor that could disqualify them from
militia duty?

Also, are there any later, say 1675 or so, Able to bear arms lists for
Plymouth Colony? Some of my ancestors didn't generate many records and I
want to see their names somewhere.

thanks, Charles
