Hello. I became curious about the history of East Boston, so I just looked it up. It has an interesting history or originally being a set of islands:

Since it is part of the City of Boston, have you contacted the "Registry Division?"

Also, since the births were around 1900, do you know whether they babies were born in a hospital? If they were born in someone's home, they might not have been recorded.

My grandmother was reportedly "a foundling" in Feb. 1889 in Boston, and "no" birth record can be found for her.

P.S. I just reread what you said, and I'd also like to ask if you checked census information. If you checked the 1900 and 1910 census for your surnames, and found them, it might offer more tidbits of information.

Also, if you are looking for Portuguese families, including families from the Azores, you might check out the Boards for Portugal and the Azores. And, check out the archives of the Mailing Lists for the Azores and Portugal.
