Hello,

Here is the web site for the "B&M Railroad Historical Society." I found
out about it maybe 5-7 years ago, and I believe the office is in Lowell
(part of the "Lowell National Historical Park").

Because I have an interest in the history of Billerica, I know about a
property in the town which is known as "Iron Horse Park." It was
originally created to be the "Repair Shops" for the Boston & Maine Railroad.
Even though the "Park" (poor use of term) was abandoned for many years,*
some of the buildings still stand, including the Roundhouse.

I recently read on one of the NH Lists that there were "Repair Shops" in
Manchester, NH. But, I just read on the above web site, that they also
had "Manchester Locomotive Works."

Does anyone know where other "RR Repair Shops" were located in New England?

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

* Within the past 5 years, "someone?" took an interest in "Iron Horse Park"
in Billerica, and started to neaten up the place a little. It was a real
"eye-sore" for at least 20 years. It was even a graveyard for "dead train
cars" and then "dead buses."

Actually it is part of the large property which became a "Federal Superfund
Site." Much contamination on the large property.
