Hi Judy. I just searched for the surname only at SSDI, and found a man very similar to the man you are looking for:

Henry LARIVIERE
Birth Date: 1 Feb 1909
Death Date: Apr 1967
Social Security Number: 031-10-1136
State or Territory Where Number Was Issued: Massachusetts


He died in Lowell, MA. Might be worth looking into.

Also, if Peter was in the Navy, you should be able to get his military records. There are several ways to do that.

FYI: There were several men born ~1907-1909 in MA with that surname. Were they related?

P.S. I see there are over 10 men with the name, Peter LARIVIERE or LARRIVIERE, in the SSDI, but with different birth-years. Could he have given a different birthdate on his Navy record? Many men did that.

(One died in Worcester which is not that far from Fitchburg, and there are hospitals there.)
