I had made a comment this week that one of my father's uncles had been
"gassed" while fighting in WW II. Someone has suggested that it was WW I,
I just looked on-line and I'm not finding "Arthur Harris LEWIS, b1892 MA,"
in the records for the WW I Draft Registration Cards. But, I'm finding
him in the WW II Draft Registration Cards. I do not subscribe to
Ancestry.com and I was wondering if someone who does - can tell me what
information is on that Registration Card for Arthur.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
Arthur Harris LEWIS was born in 8/1892 in Stoneham, MA, and remained in MA
until around 1924. He and his wife moved to Center Sandwich, NH, and in
1930's or 1940's moved to Laconia, NH. He died there in 1975.
A little figuring shows he would have been 18 in 1910. And in 1940, he
would have been 48.
(At Age 16 he was a live-in worker at the "New England Sanitorim" in
Stoneham. And, he married Philomena LeBLANC, from MA, probably around
I also would like more information on Arthur's older brothers, Edward LEWIS
and Francis LEWIS, born 1880's in Stoneham, MA.
I am finding out that both "Eddie" and "Frank" seem to have both died during
the 1920's, while in their 20's. Frank died of a heart condition, and
there is a possibility that Eddie died while in California.
