Carol,
The New England Historic Genealogical Society will not make any decision regarding the birth record. All that will happen is the database webmaster will make a copy of the FHL microfilm version of that page to see what it shows, so we can complete the index. The microfilm was created a couple of decades earlier than the images the NEHGS used to create the on-line database. And, the volunteers for the FHL did a much superior job of imaging the records. Neither the NEHGS nor the FHL owns the index or records, the Massachusetts State Archives is the owner. The Archives got these records from the Massachusetts Vital Records Registry, which in turn got them as copies of the records from the town clerks.
The best bet is to contact the Watertown town clerk and ask for the original record. The Massachusetts state vital records are not considered original sources. They are very handy when you are looking to figure out when, who, where, etc, but if you are seriously documenting an event, you should get the town records.
Hope this explanation helps.
