I can not say enough about Rootsmagic. You can go to rootsmagic.com and download a trial version. They have just come out with a version 4 and it is wonderful. I love the fact that I can color code people in it. I have my genealogy and my husband together and his is blue and mine is red so that I can tell the different families I am working in. With different SMITH lines, this helps a lot. The cost is great and if you don't need to have a disc, you can download the trial version and as soon as you buy, they send you a registration number that opens up the entire program for you.
You have the ability to set up photo albums for each person, family or event in the program so that when you open the family file, there is a picture of that family member at the top so that it makes it easier to see who belongs to what record.
The reports are able to be customized as well so that you can include or not include whatever info you want. I highly recommend it and have gotten MANY others to change from FTM and other programs and never heard them say that they did not like Rootsmagic. My husband is a dean at a technical college and has a computer magazines he subscribes to and the reviews of this program are extraordinary.
It is al EASY to learn and use. Their support is great and I am sure you will not be sorry for trying it. When you get it you can go to the program to the import and select "Import from FTM" and it will search your computer and pull up the file and with the click of the mouse immediately import your entire FTM info. Try it, I am sure you will like it.
