Hi Susan,
I wanted to be reminded where Milford, CT, was and just checked to find out
it is on the coast of CT. And find this paragraph:
During the Revolutionary War the Milford section of the Boston Post Road, a
vital route connecting Boston, New York and other major coastal cities, was
blockaded by Continental forces and Fort Trumbull was constructed to protect
the town. The site of the blockade is commemorated by the Liberty Rock
monument.

And, so many things in our current world - amaze - me. One being the fact
that there is technology to help people find out how old an item is.
I was watching "History Detectives" earlier this morning and they were
talking about a tiny "head" coming from South America. They were able to
test it to find out it was from .. 3,000 years ago ... And, it was one of
2 "tiny heads" which were found along the NY and NJ coasts. The research
showed that there was a shipwreck in the 1890's off the coast of NJ where
the ship had come up from South America . And they think that some of the
items - at the bottom of the ocean - had surfaced and ended up on beaches.

Something which is not discussed on the New England Lists too often is all
the "shipwrecks" which left thousands of ships at the bottom off the ocean -
just off the New England coastline ! Anyone have or have read this
book?
