I found him - a bugler in Company G, 36th MA Volunteer Infantry, enlisted 12-Aug-1862, mustered 27-Aug-1862, died of disease (very common in that war) 25-Jul-1863 at Vicksburg, MS.

I don't see him in the Official Records, Have you ordered his Compiled Military Service Record from the National Archives?
