The state copy of his death record shows that he died 03-Sep-1878 at
Boston City Hospital of dysentery, age 40, a laborer, born in
Ireland, son of John and Bridget, both born in Ireland.
Death records at that time generally did not show burial place or any
information other than what is shown above. The City Clerk at that
time did record duration of final illness - in this case, 19 days.
The Boston Public Library has all of the daily city newspapers on
microfilm, and that would be the place to look for an obituary,
notably in the Advertiser, the Globe, the Herald, the Journal, the
Post, the Transcript, and the Traveller.
