Yes, I did know Leila had a brother Merton, but I wasn't sure what happened to him. I had assumed that he died young, and was just able to confirm that by finding his death record on Family Search.
I have a Mass. birth record from New England Genealogy for Leila and Albert's son Merton Archer Wardwell, but can't find a death record in Mass. The next time I go to the New Jersey archives, I'll have to check the NJ death records for him.
Someone's tree had the 1900 census for Archer, but I never really paid attention to the date. I did not have his marriage record though.
I went to the NJ archives last week to get the birth records for Leila and William Ulrich's children in hopes that they would help me find out more about William. The records confirmed that at the time of the children's births William was working as a hatter. There was a William Ulrich in the Newark City Directories employed as a hatter, but upon further investigation, I discovered it wasn't my great grandfather.
I also checked the NJ archives for Leila's marriage to Frederick Thompson but did not find anything--will have to check again next time I'm there.
The search continues!
