I'm curious. Weren't there other Army bases in MA during the ww11 era? I also am pretty sure Ft Devens has closed.
But can't recall exact time of that happening--I'd say within the last 10 years or so.

If you have information about his unit rank etc that could contribute to finding him. Post that inquiry on ww11 board at genealogy.com or elsewehre--you may get lucky--I did.

My uncle James Bradley of Salem was in the Army as well.
He grew up in Salem Ma, and was in Europe during part of ww11,
What was your uncles name, and where was his home State.
He must have registered for the draft, or enlisted there.
