According to what I could make out from the bad copy I have on Edwards obituary it says that he was survived by his widow, Mrs Ethel Norris and three children, Misses Elsie, Edena and Frederick Norris of this city and his brothers and sisters in England. I am not aware of Frederick although my own grandfather, Edwards brother was a Frederick. The name was also used in other generations. I am assuming that Frederick was born after 1920 as Edward and his family were split, the two girls were with their grandmother while Edwards wife was an inmate in an institution. He obviously did not divorce her as Ethel is mentioned in the obituary, but I wonder if he had a relationship while she was away. Do you know how to go about seeking this Frederick? I am at a loss at the momment, there is so much i still need to find out. I am sure that I have more relatives over there.
My own grandfather Frederick was born in 1872 and six months after his marriage to my grandmother he set sail and made his way to Utica where I presume he worked on the textile machinery for a time and then returned back to his home in England, fathered some children and then returned to Utica. We can confirm his visits to Utica as each time hw left, he left my grandmother expecting another addition to the family.
He did come home permanately and I have his death certificate but once again when he spent long time breaks in America (2-3 years at a time) I am sure that he too had another family.

I have a lot more research to do, thank you for your help so far

Christine Shelmerdine nee Norris
