Subject: [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Archaic Medical Terms (Kidney Failure)

Hi Brigid,

I would have guessed some type of "urinary tract infection," so thank you for explaining it was "Kidney failure." And, I didn't know that could cause paralysis.

"Kidney failure" or Kidney problems in general are not something to take lightly. They can be fatal, and in past centuries "Kidney failure" would have been fatal. *

There are probably web sites for "archaic medical terms," and there is at least one book you can find in bookstores. I found a paperback 2 yrs. ago, "M.W. Medical Dictionary," which includes "old terms."

It was the fall of 2006 when I almost died from "Kidney failure." But, it was directly caused by a malfunctioning "Phototherapy Booth" in a hospital. I went there for treatment for Psoriasis, and got BURNED, chin to toes, because a nurse made a mistake.

We see on the news how "tanning booths" can cause "Skin Cancer," but they don't mention those "light boxes" that Dermatologists use. :o(

Fortunately, I did not have any aftereffects after a "miracle" saved my life.

(A side-note is that my husband survived his "near death experience" in November. He is now 5 months from the "brain surgery" and is doing great. He has only a couple symptoms left from what doctors refer to as a "brain injury." I just borrowed 2 books from the library on the subject of "brain injury survivors." I hope to browse through them this week. I don't hear of any mention of "support groups" for "brain injury survivors" in our part of MA. That is surprising to me. "Brain injuries" can be caused by many, possible events.)

(This is my 3rd attempt to post this morning; the SORBS Filter has been causing problems for over a month.)
