Cemetery records only have the year of Harriet's death..1867.

At this time, I have NO idea what her maiden name was, only that she was born abt 1805 in Stephentown, NY (from various census & her children's birth records). Census records for that time period are no help, only head of household's name was mentioned. She first married George Williams before 1829 in NYS and had 11 children by him - 9 of them b. in Canaan, Columbia County, NY - the youngest two were b. in Berkshire Cty, MA. George died sometime after Aug 1855 and before 1860; family was living in Pittsfield, MA in 1855 but George wasn't on the 1860 census; Harriet was noted as a widow.

She then married again # 2 husband, Benjamin F. Gardner on 30 Aug 1860 in Pownal, VT (right across the MA state line/border). At the age of abt 56, she gave birth to twin sons in July 1861 in Woodford, VT - Lorenzo (my 2nd G grandfather) and Alonzo.

I don't know what happened between Harriet and Benjamin...the twins were raised by other family members since the age of abt 4-8 years old. I found Benjamin had died in Northville, Wayne County, MI in Oct 1879 at the age of 79. On his death certificate, it indicated he was married but no name of wife was noted. I have no firm sources to indicate when he moved there but it would have had to have occurred after 1865.

Benjamin and Harriet along with the twins and two of her children from George Wms were living in Dalton, Berkshire County, MA on the 1865 MA census. Twins were 4 years old at the time.

On the 1870 census, Lorenzo, age 8 was living with his oldest half sister, Mary Ann (Williams) Rowland and her family in Williamstown, MA.

Harriet is buried next to Mary Ann, her husband, William Rowland and another son, Frederick Williams in lot #506 located in Hillside Cemetery, N. Adams. Neither N. Adams nor Williamstown Town Clerks have any record of her death in either city, nor have I had any luck finding her death location using the online MA Vital Record Index for any city/town in Berkshire.

I've hit a MAJOR brickwall.
