Very perplexing Diane!
Other places to look:
- familysearch.org, but it may not help much (or at least I've not had great luck with your family:). One feature I like is the ability to search using parent's names. It provides the same MA vitals as NEHGS, but uses a different index, so sometimes different results occur. It also provides access to some VT vitals.
- http://www.sec.state.ma.us/vitalrecordssearch/ This index is relatively quick, and lets you enter partial spelling of any names. I sometimes use it to play around with name possibilities. It's only good through 1910.
I'll keep looking, but not sure I can do any good. And just to clarify, which SS application listed Mary and Otis Cosgrove? The Laura born 1892 that had been in the orphanage? Or your grandmother? (I presume the first but had to ask.)
Good luck with your great aunt!
