Hello,

My husband's grandfather was Antonio PACHECO, born ~1885 on Sao Miguel, Azores. His father was Joao PACHECO, and they lived in a town right beside Ponta Delgada. I know the name of the town but can't think of it at this moment. I can look in the archives to find the name.

"Tony" PACHECO reportedly arrived at Age 20, so supposedly ~1905. I haven't spent too much time on his family, partly because there were many people named Antonio or Joseph PACHECO arriving in New England in that 1905 to 1910 timeframe. And, I don't know whether he traveled alone or with a relative. Because I've never found his correct "arrival," I don't know who is contact was upon arrival.

I have belonged to the AZORES List for at least 5 yrs., and there are knowledgeable researchers on that List. But, there is also an AZORES "Group" where people help. I can't remember whether it is at Yahoo or Google at this moment.

"Tony" PACHECO very soon settled in Cambridge, MA, where he and his wife, Elsie (MOURA) PACHECO raised their 5 children. Unfortunately, Tony was killed in a car accident near Taunton, MA, ~1927 - when Elsie was pregnant with twins.

I have posted about this extended family on the MA Lists for at least 5 yrs.

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

P.S. I'm told there was another PACHECO family in Cambridge at the same time who came from the same Ponta Delgada area. My (now) husband's grandmother lied about them - possibly because she remained angry at her late husband for the rest of her life.
