I can't seem to locate the obituary you're speaking of in NY.

I can tell you this:
Nancy LEATHE Nancy, d. of Elijah and Margaret, Jr.Aug 3, 1809
Miss Nancy Leathe (of Woburn) and David Waite, Nov 17, 18291829Marriage
Nancy (Leathe) and David Wait(e) had at least one son, Henry B. Wait(e) (b. abt. 1834) who married "L.M. Green" in S. Reading, MA on 30 OCT 1859.
They had at least one daughter named Harriet F.S. Wait b. 1825 who married a Blacksmith named Thomas R.F. Hood in S. Reading, MA on 19 DEC 1852.

Is it possible that Elija A went by "Albert," his middle name?
