Thank you for this very interesting description of some of the areas in
Catahoula Parish - it sounds like it comes from someone who really knows the
Parish and its early history. I have traveled those roads often looking for
cemeteries, etc. in doing my family research. There is always something new
to discover. I used to rely on E.Y. Peyton to help me with searching the
early records of Catahoula Parish and miss him now that he is no longer with
us. He knew just about everybody in the Parish and surrounding areas because
of his work with the Welfare Department - he also was able to get back into
some of the earlier records at the Courthouse that at that time had not been
indexed. We need more of the Catahoula Parish records on the web.
