Hello Sarah,

My, that was some years back when I posted the message.
I had completely forgotten about all the different surnames in that census year.

I'm not sure how those Strothers & Whites were related. I do know that Ellen Susan Elliott did marry, John Whittington and he died late 1863, months before my great grandmother, Ellen Elizabeth Whittington was born in 1864. John had sisters that DID marry into the White family. I'm almost positive one was Leonard White. Yes, I just checked and Stacey Whittington, sister to John married Leonard White
This Whittington line does descend from Grief Whittington.

By Feb 1867, Ellen Elliott Whittington married James Strothers. She died 1919 in Oakdale, Allen Parish.
