Hi Doc and all,
James LATTA and Mary ALLISON (second wife) and their descendants are
Branch 8. I, for one, have found no records of any kind in MD dealing
with James and Mary LATTA in any time period.
There is (I believe) an unproven consensus that William (died 1808
Fayette Co PA) of Branch 1 was the son of the same James LATTA.
By the same token I believe that Branches 3, 5, 27/47, 32 and 45 (all of
which remained in Pennsylvania) as well as some of the Carolina branches
also are headed by sons or brothers of James LATTA of Branch 8.
Mary ALLISON was supposed to be the sister of Rev. Francis ALLISON, who
was born in Donegal NI in 1705 and died in PA in 1779. He married
Hannah ARMITAGE, born 1715 in New Castle DE. I keep hoping we will find
LATTA, ALLISON and ARMITAGE families all living near each other in the
area of Donegal at the close of the 17th century, and then we'll find
out where all these branches originated in the Auld Sod.
Apparently Alex hasn't returned from NI yet, or else is still suffering
from jet lag.
