"American Revolutionary Soldiers of Franklin County Pennsylvania" lists
Captain James POE, born in Antrim Twp, Franklin Co, PA Apr 15, 1742,
married Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Maj. Gen. James POTTER. His
tombstone inscription says he died 22 June 1822, aged 71 years, making
him born in 1751 rather than 1742.
In the list of Antrim Twp taxables in 1751 there was a Thomas POA. May
we assume this to be Thomas POE, father of Capt. James?
The same book also list Maj. Gen. James POTTER, born in Tyrone, Ireland
in 1729. Married first Elizabeth CATHCART and second Mrs. Mary
PATTERSON CHAMBERS. Is this the son of John POTTER who married
Catharine CROZIER and Martha BARD?
If so, then the connection between branches 1, 3 and 8 just got a little
closer.
