Hi Norma,
Thanks for the additional info. Please surf by my Franklin County site
(http://www.infinet.com/~pcalhoun/franklin). I've added the POE and
PORTER families. See what connections you can find.
It's generally accepted (but unproven) that William LATTA of Branch 1
who died in Bullskin Twp in 1808 was the son of James LATTA of Branch
8. Bullskin Twp (Fayette Co) is just across Jacobs Creek (we say Crick
back in them thar hills) from Westmoreland Co, where the Branch 3 LATTAS
were located by the mid-1780's.
All the lines point toward Franklin Co. I am reasonably sure that there
we will find a clue that will show us how the various branches are
connected (1, 3 and 8, as mentioned above, plus 5 which was in northern
Westmoreland Co, and 32 which was in the middle of Westmoreland). Then
there are 27 and 47 (which are brobably the same branch when the dust
has settled) which were in Adams Co, just east of Franklin, and 45 which
ended up in Washington Co, west of Fayette and southwest of
Westmoreland.
Paul
(signing off for tonight)
