Surname: LEE, LEIGH, TOBIN, HACKETT, MCWEENY

I have some info regarding a Joseph LEE who
was from New Jersey and remained loyal to the king during the Rev. War.
He left the US after the war to settle in Fredericton, NB on land
awarded by the King for his loyalty. I'm not sure my LEE line ties into
this particular Joseph LEE - I have no info re his parents or
birthplace. This is what I do have:

b. 1738 (place: unknown)
m. Elizabeth CYPHER 12/10/1766 in New Jersey
d. 10/12/1812 in Fredericton, NB, Canada

Fought in the Third New Jersey Battalion and was "an uncompromising
Loyalist":
In 1776, was confined in Trenton "for disaffection" by order of the
Provicial Congress and fined 100 pounds. Early in 1777, he entered the
Third NJ Batallion, received a captain's commission and was placed in
command of a company from NJ corps known as the "Allert Company". In
1778, his battalion was sent south and took part in the capture of
Savannah, GA and other important battles. After the war, the battalion
returned to NY and was disbanded. Captain Lee settled at Kingsclear,
near Fredericton, where all surviving Loyalist officers were given land
by the King. In 1791, he was the senior magistrate in York County, NB.

I haven't been able to find any info on his parents or siblings. I
haven't been able to find any info on his and Elizabeth's children
either.

Elizabeth was sister to Peter CYPHER who served as a sereant under
Captain Lee in the Third NJ Battalion.

I research any and all LEE/LEIGH lines that tie into NJ or Fredericton,
NB ... but due to other daily obligations, I get to spend very little
time on this! My LEE line can be traced back to Fredericton, NB through
George LEE, son of Daniel LEE. The Joseph LEE I talked about above is
the right age and from the right place to have been Daniel LEE's
father. I have had no luck find my LEE's coming to New Brunswick
directly from Ireland. So ... when I learned of the mass migration of
Loyalists from the US to Canada after the Rev. War, I started looking in
that direction.
