Here are some census records from Buffalo, Erie Co NY:

1850 (2Aug1850)
BARNEY "LINCON" 30 IRE engineer
Mary 28 IRE
James 11 IRE
Jeremiah 4 NY
Mary A. "21" NY
Eliza MATTISON 21 IRE

I suspect that "LINCON" should be Lennon, child Sarah Jane was omitted, and that Eliza's age of 21 was miscopied on the line for Mary, who should have been listed either as "1" year old or just a few months.

One of the boarders in this household was
TIMOTHY "DUNIVUN" 22. He's undoubtedly the Timothy Donovan who married Anna Leticia Lennon ("Annelatica" of the 1860 census). They were the parents of William J. "Wild Bill" Donovan, head of the OSS in WWII. Anna's brother Thomas Edward Lennon married Ann or Anna Downey.

1900

THOMAS E. LENNON, b Feb "1862" NY IRE IRE saloonkeeper. Married 20 years.
Anna, Jun 1864 NY. Eight children living.
Sarah, Jun 1881
Frank, Oct 1882
Edward, Jul 1884
Anna, Jul 1887
Mary, Aug 1889
George, Feb 1891
Eugene, Aug 1892
Alice, Apr 1895

Thomas Edward Lennon appears on the 1860 census as one year old. WWI draft registration cards show Edward's birth date as July 4, 1885, Frank Bernard Lennon's as October 11, 1883, and Eugene Joseph Lennon's as August 7, 1894.

In 1910 Anna was a widow and the proprietor of a saloon. In her household were her children Frank, Mary, Alice and Eugene, and her brother Patrick Downey, age 26.
==============================

According to the book "Wild Bill Donovan, the Spymaster who Created the OSS and Modern American Espionage", by Douglas Waller, Anna was orphaned by the age of ten. This would have been around 1865. Thomas, a watchman for a grain elevator, reportedly fell off a wharf and drowned in the Buffalo River. Her mother had died in an epidemic a year earlier. Anna went to live with cousins in Kansas City for a while, but was back in Buffalo by the time she was 18.

I'm not related to this family.
