Interesting to read that Alison traces her ancestry back to Moses Levy of New York, as do I. I understand that Moses was born in 1665 in Germany to Isaac Levy and emigrated to London before moving to New York. I found a picture of Moses Levy at: http://www.hudsonvalley.org/crossroads/image/image22.html
He was apparently a successful merchant. Alison, we must be about 5th cousins --- I trace my ancestry through David Levy and Hannah Low but it was their firstborn, Gersham that was my progenitor. He was married to Elizabeth Gates. Their daughter Roseann married John Crawford of Stewiacke Nova Scotia, and their son John was my great-grandfather. It has been interesting to read about Moses Levy - especially about his daughter Abigail Levy Franks, a fascinating woman. If you have not read about her, google the name - it will be worth it.
