Hello,

I'm new to this list although I belong to several
others. My Nanninga family came to the USA between 1850
and 1900 from Ostfriesland and settled first in
Hartsburg and Pekin, Illinois. Later, branches of the
family moved to Kewanee, Illinois and to Iowa and South
Dakota. Now, like other families, we are all over the
place. Most of my Nanninga ancestors were born in
Pewsum with the far distant ones being from Victorbur.
These towns can be located on a map of Germany by
finding the mouth of the Ems River where it forms the
border between Germany and The Netherlands and following
it up a very short distance to The Krummhörn (the hook)
on the Germany side. It's between the towns of
Greetsiel and Emden.

The Nanninga given names that are most common in my
family are Konke, Frederick, Harm, Hindrick, Epke and
Gertje. I am willing to share the information I have
with anyone who might connect to my line.
