Hi Cathleen;
I'm not sure how much this will help, but there must be some connection. My grandfather, Rev. Jesse Christopher Griffin was born on June 22, 1879, in Nash County, near what is now Green Pond and was then known as Bissett's Mill(I know there are related Griffins still in this area). He had a uncle, R.L. Griffin and his parents were William Fletcher Griffin and Malda Rita Dixon Griffin.
