In answer to questions, I would refer you to Linda Cheek of Easley SC, . Linda has extensive research. I will say in looking up Rucker Smith and Nancy Posey. First of all there is a Buckner Smith (brother of Harmon Smith) who has a daughter Rhoda Smith. Rhoda married her 1st cousin John A. Smith, son of Harmon (in answer to one question). But on Buckner being Rucker? Buckner had two wives, Dianna and Francis Dodd so I don't think this is the answer. The only Nancy Posey in the book is listed as a Nancy Smith who is listed as the mother of Travis Smith (Travis also married a Nancy smith, just to confuse us). Travis is listed in Pendleton Co. in 1840 and is buried at Pickens Chapel Cem. He signed many deeds with Rucker Mauldin who was supposed to have married his mother, Nancy Posey Smith Mauldin. This Nancy Smith is supposed wife of one of Christpher Smiths sons. This would make Nancy Smith who married Travis Smith a cousin to him. Nancy Posey Mauldin is also!
buried at Pickens Chapel. So Travis Smith's mother is Nancy Posey Smith Mauldin and his wife is Nancy Smith, daughter of Christopher Smith and sister of Harmon. in 1834, Nancy Smith made a affidavit that Jesse, Buckner and Charles Smith, Revolutionary Soldiers were her brothers. This is really confusing but all I could find for now.
