Dear Laura,
My in-box is in some disarray and I failed to look into your message,
which I can't answer. However, the name Cowan is tied to my John Pool
family in the 1830s, plus the name Thomas T. Maxwell married one of John
Pool's daughters (Rebecca). She died early (abt. 1849), leaving several
small children in Davie Co. NC, and Thomas T. Maxwell remarried a Zilpha
Graham in Rowan Co. and had other children. Apparently Thomas T. Maxwell
himself died in Davie Co.in 1879.

John Pools will in 1832 shows:
Signed, sealed, published and declared in the presence of
THO. L. COWAN
WM. H. HORAH
MICHAEL BROWN

These individuals must have been close neighbors or friends to have
witnessed the will. Does the name Pool/Poole cross any of your lines?
