I am so glad to hear of someone working on our Dill Yokley in NC. I am a
descendant of Mary & John Yokley through their son Hugh Yokley
Born May 1751 died Sept. 19, 1842, buried in Bethany Church Cemetery,
Davidson County, N.C. {as of now). I am pretty sure it was Rowan County at
the time of his death.
I too do not know who was the wife of Peter Dill. I have Mary Dill & John
Yokley as having two children, Elizabeth & Hugh Yokley. Am I
correct here? In a Rowan County, N.C. deed dated 18 Jan 1773, John Yokley
to son, Hugh Yokley, and dau Elizabeth Yokley for love, real & personal
property with Hugh having two parts and Elizabeth having one part.
I also have the will of Ann Thomas, grandmother of Mary Dills Yokley .
Rowan Co., NC dated 19 Sept. 1769. Ann Thomas in this wills her son, John
Dill, a one shilling and the "plantation a tract of land on which Ann Thomas
now lives". She also states here that Mary Yokley was her grand dau. Mary &
John Yokley werer adm of her estate.
I have copies of these wills if you need them. It has been sometime since I
have researched this line, so let me know if I have goofed somewhere. I am a
descendant of Andrew, son of Hugh Yokley who migrated to Giles County,
Tennessee about 75 miles south of Nashville, TN.
Many families from Rowan County came at the same time about 1807-1818. My
English family migrated from Ireland to South Carolina to Rowan County, N.C.
My ancestor William English died in Rowan Co just before they started on
their trek to TN. His widow, Hannah, and children came on to Giles County.
Andrew Yokley also migrated to Giles County all settling in the northern
section of Giles County in Middle TN. I will be more than glad to help you
in anyway and I hope you can do the same here. I am like you in that I got
stuck on the Mayflower list at about the same place in the lineage. I would
like to know what you have on the Yokley family or any relations of theirs.

I am trying to locate the name of Peter Dill's wife. He was born in Mass.
1720 and died in Rowan Co @1763. Does anyone know where he and she were
buried-Rowan or Davidson Co or anything about his wife? Their daughter Mary
married John Yoakley(Yokley). Thanks for any help. I have records from the
Mayflower ancestor to Peter Dill and after, but no name for his wife. Lynn
